VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION - 2024 Stockade-athon

  • 10 Nov 2024
  • 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • Schenectady NY, Various locations depending on job

Registration

  • Help set up start, including setting up bunting, water table and signs. After race starts these volunteers will pick up discarded clothing and clean up and pack bunting and signs.
  • Hand out awards post race or help with other misc. tasks.
  • You will be positioned near the YMCA and hand out bibs pre-race. If you are able to stay later you can also help with refreshments and awards post race.
  • You will be positioned on an intersection along the course and may have to move barricades. There will be Police support on busy intersections and traffic will be closed until the majority of the pack has passed. Additional details and your exact location will be sent to you the week before the race.
  • Cyclist pacers will support either the front of the race (lead chase pack and lead women) or back of the race. The job of the cyclist is to make sure no one at front or back of race (where runners are spaced out more) goes off the course.
  • During the week leading up to the Stockade-athon, volunteers are needed to deliver notices to homes along the course route advising them of when certain streets will be closed on race morning. Each volunteer will be assigned a section of the course, and notices would need to be distributed anytime between November 3rd and November 6th. Pamphlets, maps and further instructions will be provided.
  • Show up at the Schenectady YMCA and ride in the water delivery fan and unload water jugs and tables at each of the three waterstops, we already have a driver for the van but need 2 people to unload the water.
  • Hand out refreshments at the YMCA gym post race from 9:15 to 11:00.
  • Runners will either sweep the course (run behind the last runner) or run at a 2 hour pace (12:52 per mile) and notify course marshals and Police that traffic can be let through at officers discretion (runners slower then 2 hours can be asked to move to the sidewalk).

If we have enough volunteers some may be asked to run at 2:15 pace (14:30 per mile). Job requires a GPS Watch.
  • This job is on Saturday morning 12:30 to 4:30, so anyone running the race can also volunteer for Packet Pickup. You need to show up at Fleet Feet, Albany between 12:30 and 4:30 for a four hour shift.
